Saqqara Through the Eyes of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at the Egyptian Russian University A Journey Between the Fragrance of History and Future Career Horizons
As part of its commitment to strengthening the practical aspect of education and transforming academic curricula into a tangible real-life experience, the Faculty of Al-Alsun at the Egyptian Russian University organized an educational field trip to the archaeological site of Saqqara under the patronage of Professor Dr. Makarem El-Ghamry, Dean of the Faculty.
The field trip was conducted under the academic supervision of Professor Dr. Nasser Makawy, Professor at the Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University. The visit aimed to deepen students’ knowledge of one of the most significant archaeological destinations in Giza, which stands as a living record of Egyptian civilization from the Third Dynasty until the Late Period.
The tour included an intensive program featuring:
The Funerary Complex of King Djoser: Exploring the Step Pyramid from the inside, in addition to visiting the Heb-Sed Court and the Southern Tomb.
The Serapeum: Descending into the burial galleries of the Apis bulls, where students expressed great admiration for the precision of the architecture and the massive sarcophagi reflecting the greatness of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Imhotep Museum: A tour among the rare artifacts discovered in the area, concluding with a documentary film in English narrating the history of Saqqara, voiced by internationally renowned actor Omar Sharif and archaeologist Zahi Hawass.
This visit reflects the Faculty’s strong belief in the importance of:
