Within the framework of the practical application, and with the supervision of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy – Egyptian Russian University, and under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Ihab Fattouh, Dean of the faculty, and Prof. Dr. Afaf Ahmed Ramadan, Head of the Department, a visit Field trip was organized for the students of the fourth and fifth grades to the factory of the Medical Union Pharmaceutical Company.
The visit began – after the members and employees of the company welcomed the students and supervising professors – with an introductory lecture about the company, its various departments, and the stages of manufacturing pharmaceutical forms. This was followed by a tour inside the company, which was divided into two parts.
The first part included a visit to the departments for manufacturing various pharmaceutical preparations, including syrups, solid preparations ; including tablets, and topical preparations such as ointments and creams. The students learned about the steps for preparing and packaging them, using the latest methods and mechanisms. This is in addition to visiting the sterile area and learning about methods for filling eye drops and ampoules, which require strict conditions for preparation and packaging.
Then the second part, included a visit to the product quality control unit through multiple tests of the final pharmaceutical formulas that were prepared. The students also learned about the company’s expansions and its participation in the development of the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry and export to various countries of the world. At the end of the visit, the students, for their part, expressed their maximum academic benefit from this visit.
