The Egyptian Russian University announces the dates and conditions for applying for the Student Union elections.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel-Nabi, President of the Egyptian Russian University in Badr City in Cairo, announced that last Wednesday 24th of October was the opening date of the Student Union elections marathon for the academic year (2021-2022) and the closing date will be next Monday under the supervision of the Higher Elections Committee headed by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Imad – Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the membership of Prof. Dr. Hana Abdel Rahman – the leader of student activities at the university, Mr. Imad Farouk – Director of Information Technology Department, and Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Director of Youth Welfare Department.
The president of the Egyptian Russian University added that the university’s faculties had been prepared for the elections to enable students to choose their representatives who present distinguished electoral programs and various student activities that serve the university’s goals in the Student Union. He stressing that participation in the student union’s electoral process trains students on democracy, opens up the field of fair competition without bias, and contributes to building students’ personalities for active participation in society after graduation.
Prof. Dr. Sherif Fakhry Mohamed Abdel-Nabi stated that the elections for the Egyptian Russian University Students’ Union will be conducted “electronically” for the second year in a row after the success of the previous year experience to implement the university’s strategy towards digital transformation and transforming the university into a smart university and to compile and realize the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus”
For his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Emad, Head of the Supreme Elections Committee, explained that the announcement of the names of the candidates in the Student Union elections will be on Wednesday 1st of December, adding that the appeals will be submitted on Sunday 5th of December. The final names of the candidates will be announced on Wednesday, 8th of December.
Prof. Dr. Hana Abdel Rahman, the leader of student activities at the Egyptian Russian University, indicated that the candidate who does not meet the following conditions will be excluded:
1- Being of Egyptian nationality.
2- Paid the tuition fees.
3- Studies regularly at the university campus during the whole academic year.
4- Obtaining a general grade of “CGPA” not less than (2.0).
5- Not been subjected to a disciplinary punishment during a disciplinary council within the university.
6- Not been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor.
7- Being of good conduct and reputation.
Mr. Emad Farouk, Director of Information Technology Department at the Egyptian Russian University, stated that the electronic voting will start on Sunday 12th of December and will last for two days. The run-off elections will be held on Wednesday 15th of December and the final results will be announced on Sunday 19th of December.
Mr. Mohamed Abdullah – Director of Youth Welfare Department at the Egyptian Russian University, noted that the secretaries of the specific committees will be elected on Monday 20th of December and the final formation of the union will be announced on Tuesday 21st of December. He pointed out that participation in the elections contributes to building students’ characters to be accustomed to participating in the democratic process and to be able to bear social responsibility to advance society and take the responsibility of making fateful decisions.
