Toy & Three-Dimensional Game Design
A single interdisciplinary major drawing on design, engineering, illustration, graphic and digital design — covering the full process from concept to the end user.
Toy and three-dimensional game design — from concept sketch and sculpture to prototyping and production.
Overview
Play has long been recognised as a fundamental part of human culture; developmental psychologists show that it supports decision-making, creativity, collaboration and socialisation.
The programme begins with analogue skills in concept drawing, sculpture and prototype development, then advances to digital illustration, 3D visualisation, rapid prototyping and the design and production of complete toy and game concepts. Teaching is delivered by specialised academics together with professionals from the toy and entertainment industries.
Students design action figures, dolls, preschool, construction and assembly toys and other interactive products, and study child psychology, visual storytelling, entrepreneurship, product safety, sustainability, packaging and manufacturing.
